About
Born in Paris, Franco-American violinist Consuelo Lepauw is the third generation of a family of musicians. Her grandfather, formerly Principal Violist at the Opera Garnier de Paris, joined Consuelo's father, First Violin, as the Viola Soloist at the Orchestre de Paris. Her brother, George, is a concert pianist. At the age of twelve, she moved to the United States where she continued her violin studies, notably at the Boston Conservatory and at the Music Conservatory of Bard College where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance.
Guided by her desire to break away from the standards of representation and to bring classical music to new audiences, Consuelo frequently embarks on collaborations with artists from all disciplines. She seeks out unusual performance venues that include private events, cultural happenings, art galleries, even electronic music festivals, all the while continuing to perform in more traditional classical performance halls.
A fervent believer in the arts as a generator for solving societal challenges, Consuelo founded Top Floor Art Nights, a series of events which aims to inspire artists and audiences alike by bringing them together to share in a wide variety of artistic and intellectual experiences. These events take place in New York as well as in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Paris.
These last years of world-wide upheaval have reinforced Consuelo’s dedication to her personal approach to the public and in her faith in the power of art and music to bring participants together in a strong transcendent experience through her choice of place and repertoire.
In addition to her busy performance schedule, Consuelo is working on a recording of the six sonatas and partitas for solo violin by J.S. Bach and is also in rehearsals as the featured violinist in a stage production in Paris which will premiere in April 2023.
Based in Paris, Consuelo plays on an 1898 Pistucci violin.
